When selecting the right power generator, there are certain criteria we as power suppliers follow. The below steps will give you a better idea as to what makes us decide the right kind of generator for your power needs.
- The appliances that will need to run in case of a sudden power failure – It is important for us to know the starting power and normal power running time of all appliances in the home. While the former is difficult to judge, the latter is found in the hand manual when buying the appliances. Knowing the mains connection is crucial for this. A mixer grinder may not require as great a running power as say a refrigerator, while lifts may require starting power which is 10 times the running power.
To elaborate, if we know the kilowatts (kW) of every appliance to keep them running when there’s a mains failure, we can calculate the start up power and choose a generator accordingly.
2. The areas of the home/office that will need basic lighting – It is essential to calculate the energy consumption of all light sources and this is derived from the kW mentioned on each bulb divided by 1.000.
